Voice lessons

A lesson for every age

Every student moves at their own pace.

  • Ages 5 and 6

A Saturday singing class of up to 8 children, with songs, rhythm and movement, and a grown-up waiting on the bench outside.

    • Saturday, 9 am

    • One hour

  • Ages 7 to 11

A first voice lesson, one to one, built around songs the student already knows.

    • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

    • 30 or 45 minutes

  • Ages 12 to 17

Songs for school musicals, songs for the shower and everything between, one to one.

    • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

    • 30, 45 or 60 minutes

  • Adults

For people who have never sung in front of anyone, and for people who sing in a group already.

    • Weekdays and Saturday mornings

    • 30, 45 or 60 minutes

A lesson

What happens in a lesson

  1. 01

    Step 1: Warm up

A few minutes of easy breathing and gentle sounds, and then a song the student already knows.

  2. 02

Step 2: Work on one song

The teacher picks one thing to build: a phrase, a breath or a part to hold against another voice.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Plan the week

The lesson ends with the song sung through and a short plan for practice at home.

At home

Before you buy anything

A voice needs no instrument, and a lesson needs very little. Ask your teacher before you buy a keyboard, a tuner or a book of songs.

Sing a little, often. Short practice most days helps more than one long session on the weekend, and a quiet corner with a glass of water is enough to begin.

Not sure where to start?

A placement visit is the way to find out. A teacher listens, you talk, and we match you.
