Questions we hear most

What age can my child start?

Our Saturday singing class is for ages five and six. Voice lessons and the junior choir start at seven, the youth choir at twelve, and adults are welcome in lessons and in the community choir.

How long is a lesson?

30, 45 or 60 minutes. Your teacher will suggest a length at the placement visit.

How are teachers matched?

At the placement visit a teacher listens, we talk about what you want to sing, and we match you with a teacher and a weekly time.

Do I need to read music?

No. Choirs learn songs by ear, and teachers bring in sheet music when a singer wants it.

What is a placement visit?

A short visit to the studio. A teacher hears you sing a song you know. Nobody is tested.

Do I have to audition for a choir?

No. The placement visit is how we find the right choir.

Is a concert required?

No. Singing in a concert is the student's choice, and families and friends are always welcome to listen.

What if we miss a lesson?

A lesson you cancel with a day's notice is made up with your teacher.

Can an adult start from the beginning?

Yes. Lavanya and Cailin teach adults on weekday evenings and Saturday morning, and the community choir meets on Thursday.

Still have a question?

Call the studio during lesson hours or send a message. We answer within a day.
